Agent Services
Accountants and tax agents can submit MTD updates on your behalf if you authorise them in HMRC online services.
What it is
HMRC’s Agent Services Account lets qualified agents act for multiple clients. You must authorise your agent to view and submit data for your business.
Who it applies to
Anyone using an accountant, bookkeeper, or tax adviser registered with HMRC as an agent.
What you need to do
- Choose an agent registered for MTD services.
- Authorise them through your HMRC business tax account or using an authorisation code.
- Review submissions before deadlines.
Key points
- You remain legally responsible for your tax return even if an agent files it.
- Check your agent is regulated (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, AAT) where applicable.
